IEP Level 2 is designed for the False Beginner in English-language training—someone who can ask and respond to basic learned phrases spoken slowly and often repeated; who recognizes and writes letters, numbers, and his/her own name and address; and can make lists of familiar items (like a shopping list).

Upon successful completion of the False Beginner level, the student will be able to
• produce many aspects of correct English pronunciation that lead to overall oral and aural
comprehensibility,
• utilize oral communication skills in many social settings,
• speak in longer sentences, use a wider English grammar and larger English vocabulary, and
• listen, read, speak, and write English well enough to progress to Level 3 as exhibited
through the unit, midterm and final assessment scores.
